Why minor in Personal Brand and Money Management?

In almost all career paths, managing finances and marketing yourself well are two of the most valuable skills you can develop to reach your goals. This minor will prepare you through coursework and hands-on experiences in personal finance, retail brand strategy, digital media, and leadership, giving you the tools to strategically develop both your personal brand and financial plan with confidence.

Through future-focused instruction, labs, studios and internships, you'll be able to make informed money decisions and tell your own story authentically. You will combine narrative and numbers to communicate your value and then manage resources in real-world scenarios. The minor also offers courses in digital influence and consumer behavior, so you'll be ready for any shifts in your chosen industry.

Degree Requirements & Courses

The minor requires six courses, or 18 units. Nine of the unit must be upper division courses, and nine of the units may be transferred in.

Core: 
Complete both:

  • PFFP 150B2: Personal Finance Foundations (3 units)
  • RCSC 240: Consumer Behavior (3 units)

Complete 3 units from the following:

  • RCSC 320: Retail Brand Strategy (3 units)
  • RCSC 361: Social Media, Influencers and Consumers (3 units)
  • FITS 400: Digital Revolution and Cultural Trends: The Influencer Phenomenon (3 units)

Electives:
Complete 9 units from the following:

  • FITS 333: Fashion Promotion (3 units)
  • FITS 335: Fashion Forecasting (3 units)
  • RCSC 315 Retail Communications Strategy (3 units)
