Degree requirements
- 18 total units, 9 units must be upper division (300-400 level)
- Six units of experiential coursework may apply to the minor (preceptorship, independent study, research, practicum) — speak with an advisor for required applications.
- Courses used in the minor may not be applied to a student's major or second minor
- Courses may be used toward a pre-major. For example, HDFS 117 or HDFS 200 can be used toward pre-nursing requirements and the HDFS minor.
Minor courses
Any combination of HDFS coursework may be used to complete the minor requirements with the exceptions:
- Nine units must be upper division (300-400 level)
- HDFS 117 (or an equivalent course) is a prerequisite to many upper division courses
- HDFS 150B1 cannot be used in the HDFS minor
Registration Information
- Starting March 1st the Fall and Summer Schedule of classes will be available, and shopping carts will become available for planning your courses
- Adding classes to your shopping cart makes it easier to register when your enrollment appointment begins.
- You can also check your enrollment eligibility, like if you meet the enrollment requirements like prerequisites or placement.
- Be prepared to have some backup classes in your cart in case your first choices are not available on your enrollment date.
- Starting mid March, your priority registration date for Fall 2025 will be listed at the top of your UAccess Student Center. Remember that your enrollment date is based on your class standing, which is based on units completed as of the beginning of this semester, not how many years you’ve been a student.
- Seniors: 90 or more earned units
- Juniors: 60 or more earned units
- Sophomores: 30 or more eared units
- First-Year: fewer than 30 earned units
- Remember that your enrollment appointment will begin on your assigned date, and registration will remain open to you until the first week of the spring semester!
- April 7 - Honors Seniors and Juniors, Athletes, Military Affiliated, ROTC, Fostering Success
- April 10 - First-Year and Sophomore Honors Students and Seniors (90+ units)
- April 14 - Juniors (60-89 units)
- April 17 - Sophomores (30-59 units)
- April 21 - First-Year (0-29 units)
- All students can enroll in Summer courses starting April 7
