International Rescue Committee
Founded in 1933, International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a leading, non-sectarian, non-profit organization providing emergency relief, protection, rehabilitative assistance, resettlement services, and advocacy for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict. IRC Tucson provided a wide range of services to refugees in all stages of resettlement and seeks to promote each refugee family's search for self-sufficiency.
The IRC’s US offices offer a variety of unpaid internship opportunities throughout the year. Prospective interns must go through the internship educational institution or a recent graduate. We commonly offer internships in our departments of: Resettlement Assistance, Health and Medical, Employment and Economic Empowerment, Cash Assistance, Immigration, and Administration.
Purpose of Internship
Internships at the International Rescue Committee in Tucson provide college students and recent graduates with opportunities to gain professional experiences and exposure to different fields. Interns learn to work in a multi-cultural environment, build professional networks within the community, and cultivate adaptability and creativity in a dynamic world.
Agency Qualifications
- Current students and recent graduates are both accepted.
- Exact requirements vary by position.
- All internships take place within business hours (8 am to 5pm, Monday through Friday) unless otherwise noted in the position description.
- Interns must be at least 18 years of age and able to pass a criminal history check and obtain a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Most positions also require a personal vehicle, valid driver’s license and auto insurance, and a clean driving record.
- Preferred strong intercultural communication skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from other cultural backgrounds
