Academic Advising

Academic Advising

Academic advisors help you navigate college, from tracking degree progress and planning next steps to providing post-graduation guidance.

Schedule Appointment

How to make the most of your advising meeting

  1. Determine the right meeting type:
    1. Drop-ins (5-10 minutes) for general course planning, information & policies, campus resource referrals, or forms.
    2. 30-minute meetings for graduation planning, study abroad planning, academic success strategies, and exploring majors, minors, graduate school or careers.
  2. Schedule your appointment or view drop-in hours below. Please cancel appointments you cannot attend 24 hours in advance.
  3. Prepare for your meeting: review your academic advisement report, degree checklist, dates and deadlines, and write down your questions.
  4. Arrive on time, silence your phone, be open with your advisor about academic and personal assistance you may need, and ask questions.
  5. After your meeting, complete the advisor's recommended follow-up steps. Keep a folder with information from all advising meetings, seek out the discussed resources, and connect with your advisor if you have more questions.
