MEET YOUR ACADEMIC ADVISORS
Academic advisors are available to help you plan and navigate through your college education. An advisor can help you stay on track throughout your degree program and provide guidance when you're making decisions about your career after graduation.
How to Make the Most of Your Advising Meeting
1. DETERMINE THE RIGHT MEETING TYPE
Drop-ins (5-10 minutes) are best for quick questions about general course planning, general information & policies, campus resource referrals, or quick forms.
30 minute appointments are best for longer questions like graduation planning, study abroad planning, academic success strategies, and personal exploration regarding majors, minors, graduate school or careers.
2. SCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT ONLINE
Visit catcloud.arizona.edu to schedule your appointment or view drop-in hours.
3. COME PREPARED
Before your meeting, it is important to come prepared to ensure the most helpful meeting. You can prepare yourself by reviewing your academic advisement report and catalog checklist, reviewing dates and deadlines, write down questions you may have, and bring advising materials from previous materials. Remember to cancel any appointment you cannot attend 24 hours in advance.
4. BE ENGAGED
During your advising meeting, we want to give you our undivided attention and help so make sure to arrive on time, turn off or silence your phone, be open with your advisor about academic and personal assistance you may need, and ask questions!
5. NEXT STEPS
After your meeting, make sure to complete all the necessary follow up steps that were recommended to you. It is always helpful to keep a folder with information and materials from all the advising meetings, seek out resource and opportunities discussed, and make sure to follow up with your advisor if something was unclear or if you have additional questions.
