The Norton School of Human Ecology celebrates six graduating seniors in the Fashion Industry's Science and Technology spring class of 2023 for their outstanding achievements over the course of their undergraduate career.
As the academic year draws to a close, the Norton School of Human Ecology recognizes the outstanding achievements of their graduating students. These awards serve as a testament to the dedication, hard work, and exceptional talent displayed by these individuals throughout their academic journey. Danielle Marie Nead-Work
Danielle Marie Nead-Work, a Fashion Industry’s Science and Technology and Law major with a minor in Spanish, is originally from the picturesque town of Lake Oswego, Oregon.
Passionate about the realms of fashion and law, Danielle considers herself incredibly fortunate to have explored and immersed herself in both fields throughout her academic journey. Engaging in fashion clubs such as Trend and Cutting Edge Sewing Club, she has had the opportunity to connect with fellow fashion enthusiasts. Additionally, Danielle has showcased her legal prowess by competing at a national level as a member of the University of Arizona Mock Trial Team, effectively applying the knowledge acquired in her law classes and gaining invaluable experience. Her unwavering dedication to helping others has led her to actively participate in service initiatives within her community and sorority.
"Through the Fashion Industry’s Science and Technology program, I’ve met the most amazing mentors and friends who have guided me through the school as it evolved, and have helped me find my passions,” Nead-Work said. “I would not be where I am without these mentors and friends from the school and I am going to miss them so much!”
A standout experience for her was undoubtedly the FITS study abroad program in Paris and Milan, which proved to be a life-changing endeavor and forever favorite memory.
Following graduation, Danielle intends to embark on the next phase of her educational journey by attending law school the following year. While still deliberating among a few options, her primary focus will be on studying fashion and environmental law. The ultimate goal is to secure a legal position within the fashion industry post-law school. Danielle eagerly awaits the beginning of this exciting new chapter in her life!
Kayla Skye Sagabaen
Kayla Skye Sagabaen, hailing from the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area, is a passionate Fashion Industry's Science Technology major with a minor in marketing.
Driven by a strong work ethic and a genuine desire to uplift those around her, Kayla embraces a creative, unique, and kind-hearted approach to life. Both fashion and marketing hold a special place in her heart as her greatest passions. Through her studies and internship experiences, she has discovered the vital role that marketing plays in shaping her future within the fashion industry. To Kayla, fashion extends beyond mere glamour; it is a transformative force that has the power to strengthen communities and create a more inclusive world.
Throughout her four years at the University of Arizona, Kayla seized countless opportunities to explore various clubs, majors, and minors. She actively engaged in business clubs while nurturing her deep passion for fashion. One of her most cherished experiences was participating in the fashion abroad program in Paris and Milan, where she connected with fellow students who shared her love for fashion and experienced firsthand the diverse cultures of fashion. This study abroad adventure left an indelible mark on her, serving as a constant reminder of the transformative power of global perspectives.
Kayla has accepted a job offer as an Executive Assistant and Cult of Coquette Team Manager at Cult of Coquette, an exciting step that aligns perfectly with her passion for fashion. Working alongside an inspirational businesswoman, her boss, Kayla looks forward to immersing herself in the aspects of running a business and further expanding her knowledge within the industry.
Sophie Marsden
Sophie Marsden, from Glen Ridge, NJ, is a determined student pursuing a major in Fashion Industry's Science and Technology, accompanied by a minor in Retail and Consumer Sciences.
Fueled by her deep-rooted passions for fashion and social media, Sophie has been fortunate to delve deeper into these fields through her internships at Collette Clothing and 510 South Marketing. These invaluable experiences have not only allowed her to immerse herself in her passions but have also paved the way for her dream career path.
“We got to design and create garments out of recycled UofA football and basketball jerseys, and my design for a purse got selected to be produced and sold at the Bookstore!,” Sophie said. “This was such an amazing opportunity where I got to see the full process, from concept to final production, of a garment I designed.”
Currently, Sophie is continuing her marketing internship with 510 South Marketing, paving the way for her transition into a full-time career in marketing. With her sights set on fashion marketing, she aims to make a significant impact in the industry through her expertise and creativity.
Sophie expresses her sincere gratitude to the Norton School for its unwavering support and the opportunities it has presented. The faculty and staff have played a vital role in shaping her into a well-prepared professional, and she cherishes her time spent within the Norton School of Human Ecology.
