Summer Day Camp - KidVenture

Seeking enthusiastic volunteers and mentors for The Salvation Army’s Summer Day Camp, “KidVenture” program at our All Nations Corps.

The Summer Day Camp will begin on Tuesday, May 28th, and will end the last week in July. This program will be structured with both educational and creative components - hosting tutoring and supplemental education experiences in the mornings – and afternoons devoted to arts and crafts, music, dance, sports, etc.

This ten-week program will be held Monday – Friday, from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm. This camp benefits kids in our community who often fall through the cracks educationally and who may not have access to safe, low-cost summer programs.

Interested U of A student volunteers will help with tutoring, as well as assist with setting up an effective curriculum and simple lesson plans to motivate and encourage our students to be their best. We’ll serve low-income children ages Kindergarten through 12 years of age from participating schools.

Students can contact Kristin Ohman at kristin.ohman@usw.salvationarmy.org or 520-448-3997 to schedule an interview. A criminal history and sexual offender background clearance is required for all participating volunteers (at no cost to the volunteer), as well as a short, online training. If possible, volunteers are asked to commit to volunteering for the program at least one day per week, (either AM or PM), for the duration of the 10-week camp. This is to ensure staff-to-child ratio consistency, as well as provide a solid foundation for the children who will be attending.
*Please note: We welcome all volunteer help – even if a student is unable to commit to the entire 10-weeks.
