Recreational Program Intern

Anticipated 10 to 20 hours per week for Spring 2024.

This position will join FC Tucson Youth to support the Recreational Program in various aspects including but not limited to the initiation and management of three playing seasons, development of non-traditional soccer programming to augment current offerings, and outreach to potential program sponsors. This position will be generally overseen by the Recreational Director and Assistant Director and expected to adopt and maintain all standards set by them.

A successful Recreational Intern will be able to apply analytical skills to address unique problems and maintain a high standard in completing assigned tasks. Superior interpersonal skills and the subset of strong customer service ability is essential. This position may be required to utilize spreadsheets, checklists, contact lists, and internal systems. Work schedules will be set by the Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the day-to-day needs and responsibilities assigned by the Director.
  • Manage seasonal registrations database and assist with player rostering
  • Liaise with community partners to develop additional recreational programming
  • Develop efficient and flexible internal systems to complete tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Lead by example in always maintaining professional and courteous behavior.

Essential Skills, Experience & Abilities:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Desire to work in sports and recreation/youth development is a plus .
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft and Google editing platforms (Excel, Google Sheets, etc.)
  • Team player who can pivot easily to assess priorities and provide immediate redirection when needed.
  • Must be self-motivated and have a strong sense of accountability.
  • Candidates should be comfortable performing moderate physical labor.
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds.
  • Proficiency or conversational ability in Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions including heat, cold, and rain.
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays upon request.
  • Applicant must have valid driver license/reliable method of transportation.
  • Must have their own laptop.
  • Passion for soccer or other sports a plus.
